Branding your BEI Newsletter for Marketing and Full Service Members
You can brand your twice-monthly Newsletter with your corporate color scheme, logo, photo, promotional text, and disclaimers to add more punch to each exciting issue. You can even add a link so the reader can complete an Exit Planning Assessment Brochure. We strongly recommend tailoring your Newsletter to your unique situation as soon as you can so you can tap into the power of this influential tool.
- To add Branding to your Newsletter: click My Newsletter in the Marketing box on the BEI Member Center Home Page
- On the My Newsletter landing page, click on the name of the Newsletter you want to brand. (Don’t confuse the Newsletter Name with the You want the Name.)
- This will bring you to a dashboard with four icons. Click the Settings icon (the gear graphic in the first position)
- Your landing page will show a sample of what your Newsletter looks like.
- On the right-hand side of the page is a vertical column with three tabs - click the first tab: Content Defaults. In the Content Defaults fields, be sure to include the From name (Remember, BEI has designed the distribution system to deliver the Newsletter as if it has come directly from you.), From email, and Replies should be sent to Without this critical information, readers clicking your logo, your email address, or your website URL won’t be connected.
- NOTE: Some Members use a different Replies should be sent to address or a unique URL so they can distinguish a message or reply made from their Newsletter.
- Complete the rest of the page with your Company Information.
- To lock in your changes, click the blue Save & Continue button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Click the Design Defaults tab to graphically enhance your Newsletter.
NOTE: Color fidelity will vary among computer monitors and printers, so set your colors accordingly.
Background Color
- To change your Newsletter Background Color, click the colored box immediately under the Background Color title. You can change either the alphanumeric in the Background Color bar or move the locators on the color icons. To lock in your changes, click anywhere in the white space to the right of the color icons.
- These color codes are "Hex Codes" (color-hex.com), so your marketing team may already have codes ready for you to use. Here is an example of a Hex Code that you will see in the color bar: #238994
- NOTE: By moving the locators on the color icons, you will change the alphanumeric in the Background Color bar. You can set the color to anything you like and are constrained only by corporate graphic standards and good taste. Make note of the alphanumeric so you can use this Hex Code to ensure color consistency among other BEI brandable materials.
- To lock in your changes, click the blue Save & Continue button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Logo Region
- To upload your Logo, scroll to the Logo Region and check the Enabled box to prepare the Newsletter to accept a logo.
- Click the Browse button located under the heading that reads Logo. You can upload your logo from your computer’s files (Logo file size cannot exceed 2 MB).
- Once you’ve uploaded your logo, click Next and choose Public Local Files Served by the Web Server for your destination then click Next.
- On the following page, you don’t have to add any information, just scroll to the bottom and click Save.
- Make sure you have your Website URL posted in the Logo Link
- You can change the Logo Background Color the same way you changed your Newsletter background color. Make sure to have your Logo uploaded prior to selecting a color to avoid blotting out parts of your Logo with similar colors. You want your Logo and brand to stand out.
- To lock in your changes, click the blue Save & Continue button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Banner Region
- To include an Optional Banner between your Logo and your Contact Information, navigate to the Banner Region.
NOTE: This is the perfect place to include a Subscriber self-directed link to the Exit Planning Assessment Brochure so Subscribers can take a short assessment quiz to see how prepared they are to transition out of their business. They take the quiz. You generate the report and contact the owner with the results. Specific instructions on how to set this up and a number of ready-to-use banners can be found at: Banner Ads - Create a Call to Action For Your Clients!
- To add your Banner, check the Enabled box to prepare the Newsletter to accept a Banner.
- Click the Browse box, navigate to the appropriate file, and upload the file just like you did for your Logo, above.
- To lock in your changes, click the blue Save & Continue button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Profile Region
- To add your photo to your Newsletter, scroll to the Profile Region. Check the Enabledbox to prepare the Newsletter to accept a Photo. Then, click Browse. Navigate to the appropriate file and upload the file.
- To lock in your changes, click the blue Save & Continue button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Content Region
- To add Disclaimers and/or Promotional Text, scroll down to the Content Regionwithin the Design Defaults Enter the appropriate text in the provided boxes.
- You can manipulate the text using the icons on the Toolbar
- Once complete, click the blue Save & Continue button in the upper right-hand corner of the page to save your changes.
NOTE: Some Licensed Members choose to change their Promotional Text every month or every quarter to offer a different branded BEI White Paper or advertise a presentation or speech they are giving. Use your imagination. This space is here for you to use as a marketing tool. You can even use it to add a second invitation to take an Assessment Brochure quiz.
Footer Region
The Footer Region allows you to add Social Media and Forward icons to the bottom of the Newsletter. These options allow your newsletter recipients to share your content with their network - when subscribers receive a newsletter that they think is outstanding, they'll be able to easily use these icons to forward and share the content. We offer Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter as options.
When you feel satisfied that the Footer section is complete, click Save & Continue in the upper right-hand corner of the page to save your changes.
One last thing before you leave the Newsletter Settings area, navigate to the upper, right-hand corner of the page and immediately under the Save & Continue and Finish buttons you will see a gray box titled Automate My Marketing. Make sure the box to the left of that title is checked. This enables the Newsletter Automated Distribution System to work its magic and get your Branded Newsletter out to all your subscribers twice a month.
Look over your sample Newsletter for errors and typos. When you are done and ready to leave the Settings section, click the Finish box in the upper right-hand corner of the page to lock in your changes.
Congratulations! You’ve now customized and branded your BEI Newsletter to your specifications. You’re ready to send your Newsletters to your subscribers to educate them on Exit Planning.
