How to create a newsletter custom campaign for Marketing and Full Service Members
BEI sends out an electronic Newsletter twice a month to a database that licensed members create and maintain. This Newsletter is professionally designed and written to position you as a thought leader in Exit Planning and produce a response from subscribers to help you get more Exit Planning engagements.
Some of our licensed members like to have more control over setting mailing schedules and modifying content, so BEI has devised a Custom Campaign Program that allows our licensed members more flexibility. The following step-by-step instructions show how to set up a Custom Campaign.
Note: If you choose to manage your own Newsletter Campaigns, you will still have access to BEI’s automatic twice-monthly Newsletter. You can use the automated system and the customized send system either in conjunction or individually, based on your needs. The automatic newsletter sends on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Set Up the Email System to Manage Your Own Campaigns
Starting at the BEI Member Center Home Page, navigate to the Marketing Box. Under Marketing Tools, click the My Newsletter link. On the My Newsletter landing page, click the Newsletter name located immediately below the My Newsletter title. This will bring you to a landing page with four icons. Click the Settings icon (the gear graphic in the first position).
On the sample Newsletter/Settings landing page, the vertical column on the right-hand side of the page contains the elements to set up your Newsletter. At the top of the column is a gray box titled Automate My Marketing. If the little box to the left of the title is checked, BEI is controlling the distribution, and you can sit back and relax. If you want to take over the distribution of the Newsletter using BEI’s distribution system, simply uncheck the box. Then, click the blue (not green) Save and Continue box. You now have control and must set up your individual Campaigns.
Note: You can choose to return to having BEI send out the Newsletter at any time by returning to the Settings page and placing a check in the Automate My Marketing box.
After you have made your choice, click Save & Continue in the upper right-hand corner of the page. You can now make any other changes to your Newsletter using the tabs and elements in the right-hand column. When you are done, click Finish in the upper right-hand corner of the page, and you will be directed to the page containing four icons.
You are now ready to set up and schedule your Custom Campaigns.
1 – Click the Campaigns icon
2 – Click Create Campaign
3 – Fill in From Name and Replies should be sent to fields
- Click Next
4 – On the Content landing page, navigate to Content Region (right column)
- Newsletter Reference – Enter keywords related to the topic
- Write a Subject Line – Enter the email’s subject
- Article Title – Grab one from archived Newsletters or create your own title
- Article Body – Cut & paste from BEI Archives or write your own article
- Promotional Text – Add promotional message if applicable
- Disclaimers – Cut & paste any disclaimers
- Click Save and Continue – Verify your layout in a sample on the left-hand side
- Click Finish when you’re satisfied
5 – On the Draft Campaigns landing page, confirm the Draft Newsletter.
- Select Schedule / Send, Edit, or Delete
6 – Schedule / Send – Select option (Send Immediately or Later Date)
7 – Schedule for a specific date
8 – Insert date & time
- Click Schedule
9 – On the Draft Campaign landing page, verify the schedule
- Click Scheduled
10 – On the Scheduled Campaign landing page
- If you want to unschedule the Newsletter, select the Unschedule option
- Are you sure? [Yes or No]
- Unschedule
- Reverts back to Draft Status
11 – If you unschedule a Campaign and want to reschedule or delete the Campaign, navigate back to the Draft Campaigns landing page
- Select Schedule / Send to reschedule
- Delete to remove
- Lock icon – Campaign cannot be edited: Must send or delete
Your Campaign has been created and will be sent to your Subscriber List on the day and time you chose.
Remember, you can return to having BEI send out your Newsletter at any time by returning to the Settings page and checking the Automate My Marketing box.
